This is a system to provide a benefit to a worker who was in an accident at their place of work and received injuries or to provide relief to the bereaved family.
If the injury or the sickness was caused by working or commuting to or from work, then it will be eligible for the benefit. You need to contact your employer and they need to complete the procedure on your behalf.

Type of benefits
- Medical treatment benefits: benefits for hospital consultations.
Unlike health insurance, this is free of charge. You need to ask a doctor for a medical certificate, and you might need to pay the cost temporarily until you receive reimbursement. Up to 4,000 yen will be paid by the benefit.
- Leave benefit: 60% of salary compensation will be provided from the 4th day of leave.

When the company is not enrolled
If you are involved in an industrial accident without taking out Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance, you are required to tell the hospital that it was caused at work and then the claim will be processed at a Labour Standards Inspection Office.
