Use
Use it when recieving medical treatment (at medical institutions designated by the Japanese government for providing medical care at National Health Insurance rates).
A way of acquisition
It is issued at your municipality office when you take out National Health Insurance.
A health insurance card is issued immediately or is mailed to your address.
It can be reissued at your municipality office by bringing photo ID.
Fee
The card itself is free of charge, but insurance premiums will apply while you are subscribed.
Notes
The expiration date is one year from August 1st. If you continue to take out insurance a new card will be mailed to your address.
