If a person who does not have Japanese nationality loses their insurance status of either the national pension or their company insurance and leaves Japan, a lump-sum withdrawal payment can be requested.
Eligible People
The requirement for eligibility:
- You were paying National Pension for more than 6 months.
- The enrolment period is less than 10 years in total and you leave Japan ・ You have completed the procedure for moving out of Japan
- You never received a disability basic pension or a disability company pension when you should have.
- Completed the moving out of Japan procedure within a 2 year period

Application
You apply to the Japan Pension Service. You will need the following:
- Application
- Power of attorney (if requested by an agent)
- A copy of your passport (/a page with your name, date of birth, nationality, signature, and status of residence)
- Documents that can clarify that you no longer have an address in Japan (a copy of a record of deletion of the resident's card, a copy of the page that confirms the departure date of your passport, etc.)
- Documents that can be confirmed as "bank name", "branch name", "branch location", "account number" and "account name is claimer's"
- (Certificate issued by the bank, etc. Or the bank's proof in the "bank account certificate column". Japan Post Bank cannot receive the lump-sum withdrawal payment)
- Pension notebook and other documents that can confirm your basic pension number.
