Maternity Leave Allowance will be paid for the period you are required to be absent from work if you didn't get paid your regular salary by your employer.
Period
Allowance Period
From 42 days (98 days for multiple pregnancies) before the date of childbirth (the due date if giving birth was after the due date) to the 56th day after the date of childbirth, and the date of childbirth is included in the period that is before childbirth. If the childbirth is delayed from the due date, the allowance will be paid for the delayed period.

Standard Monthly Remuneration (recent 12 months of average Standard Monthly Remuneration)/30days*2/3 = the amount of benefit per day.
※ Either of the following lower options will be applied when the insured period is less than 12 months.
① Average of Standard Monthly Remuneration in the insured period.
② Average of Standard Monthly Remuneration of all insured people of the insurance you belong.

Applying after you quit/retire from your job:

★Maternity Leave Allowance is not part of the National Health Insurance program.
You can get the allowance even after you lose your qualification as an insured person if you were getting the allowance before the resignation date or were scheduled to get the allowance. The insured period has to be more than 1 continuous year (except the voluntarily-continued insured) before the resignation date, etc.
