Limit of receiving benefits
You will have to wait for 3 months to receive unemployment benefits (Basic Allowance) if you left the job for personal reasons.
Extension of receiving period
If you do not apply for jobs at Hello Work without any special circumstances while you are unemployed, you may not be able to receive the full amount of the benefit days even though you are still unemployed. If you cannot work for 30 days or more due to illness, injury, pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, etc., you can extend the receiving period for the number of days you cannot work.

Requirement
- In the two years prior to the date of retirement, there must be at least 12 months that the number of days of enrollment related to salary payment is 11 days or more, and the period of enrollment is at least 12 months. Specified recipients such as dismissal, Specific Reason Recipients, those who retired at the age of 65 or older must have a enrollment period of 6 months or more.

- When you only want to work for a short time frame so you will not be able to receive employment insurance.

Application process
① After leaving the job, receive the Separation Notice from the employer.
② Bring the following documents and apply for a job at the Hello Work office under your jurisdiction, and then they will decide if you are eligible or not.
・ Employment Insurance Certificate
・ ID photo x 2
・ My Number Card or My Number Card Notification Card or Resident's Card(My Number is on it)
・ Seal
・ Bankbook
③ Attend the briefing session that Hello Work assigned you and receive documents such as the Qualified Recipient Certificate.
④ Waiting period 7 days + waiting for another 2 months for resigning for personal reasons and at the same time, you go to Hello Work once every 4 weeks on the assessment day.
⑤ Go to Hello Work once every four weeks while looking for a job until you get a job or the benefit period runs out.
